John W. Stanton is an American businessman and entrepreneur with a net worth of $1.1 billion. He is best known for being the chairman of the board of Trilogy International Partners and the majority owner of the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball team.

Stanton is the founder and former CEO of Western Wireless Corporation, and he also served as the chairman and CEO of VoiceStream Wireless. He was also the chairman of the CTIA. In 2014, he joined Microsoft’s board of directors.

Stanton formed Trilogy International Partners with Strive Masiyiwa and Bradley Horwitz in 2005. As of 2016, he held $45 million of stock in companies including Columbia Sportswear and General Communication Inc.

Stanton graduated from Whitman College, where he later served as the chairman of the board of trustees. He became a minority owner of the Seattle Mariners before being appointed CEO in 2016 and formally purchasing the team later that year.
