The Coliseum - Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Guide
During Like A Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name’s second chapter, Kiryu and Akame will visit the Coliseum on the Castle barge, opening up a new string of side quests. Although you first visit the area to win information, the end of the chapter has Kiryu come back and begin his new journey to becoming a legendary Coliseum combatant.

As you learn throughout this chapter, there are several ways to fight in the Coliseum. You can fight solo, taking on enemies alone for lower money. Or, as introduced after Kiryu’s fight with Hammerhead, you can fight in a Hell Team Rumble, which has Kiryu and a team of allies take down enemies.
Winning match-ups earns rewards and boosts your "Fame". Fame is a currency that will increase your stock at the Castle. When combined with Akame Network rankings, it’ll allow you to increase to a new rank. There are two ranks to unlock after reaching silver during the main story: Gold and Platinum.
By reaching these two ranks, you’ll unlock new shops, casinos and other areas. So, what fights can you participate in to earn Fame? Let’s quickly run through each:
Tournament Fights

One-on-one fights, Tournament battles have Kiryu take on various combatants as he moves through the rankings and becomes a Coliseum legend. In the Tournament screen, you can pick from various options that scale in difficulty and potential rewards.
The fights start at bronze rank, scale to silver rank, bump up to gold rank and then finally end at platinum rank. Each fight will offer details about what it entails on the tournament screen, including a difficulty ranking, information about how many fights you’ll have to complete, the stage it's set on and the time you need to complete it in to achieve a certain ranking.
Some tournament fights will switch up the rules, including setting a time limit to take down your opponent and adding weapons you must use to take down an enemy. Completing tournament fights adds to Kiryu’s rank at the Castle. Level up to Platinum rank to unlock every fight and the full scope of the Castle.
Hell Rumble
Pretty much identical in style to the Tournament fights, except Kiryu will be pitted against waves of opponents instead of a boss. The idea is identical though. Take down enemies quickly to earn high ranks and rewards.
Much like with Tournament fights, some fights will switch up the rules, adding new objectives that change the style of the fight.

Hell Team Rumble
Hell Team Rumble differs from solo fights in that Kiryu will need to work with a team of allies to take down multiple enemies. These fights are more sought after than solo fights, and thus bring in higher rewards.
They also require more management on Kiryu’s part, namely because he needs to find, recruit and upgrade allies to help him take down his enemies. Throughout The Man Who Erased His Name’s world, you’ll find NPCs that are recruitable to your team. These range from random folks dotted around the Castle to allies made throughout sub-stores in Osaka. If you're looking for a full list of recruitable allies, check out our All Recruitable Coliseum Fighters page.

After you find an ally, you’ll be able to add them to your team by talking to the receptionist at the Coliseum. You can also go to the Fighter's Lounge to train them or give them gifts to level them up. When you enter a Hell Team Rumble, your assigned team will then fight by your side. You can have a total of four allies at once, with a screen appearing before you enter the ring that allows you to select who you wish to team with.
Each will have their own skills and fighting styles, so the best tactic is to find a balanced team that compliments your playstyle. You can even opt to leave Kiryu out of the fight entirely, making one of your allies the leader of the group.
When in the match, you’ll need to defeat a wave of enemies before the time runs out or the leader is killed. Your allies’ health doesn’t matter, however, keeping them in the fight is beneficial for taking enemies down in the allotted time. You can see how many enemies are left on the right-hand side of the screen and keep watch of your allies’ health at the bottom of the screen.
During the fight, the leader will charge up a special ability known as “order,” which will allow you to buff your allies when it’s fully charged. When you see the command appear on the screen, press LEFT on the D-PAD to execute the order. Winning the Hell Team Rumble will allow your allies to level up, making them stronger and more reliable.
Special Event Match

A big match with a unique gimmick, Special Event Matches are big money fights that will crop up during each rank.
They’ll often pose a tough challenge against a ruthless opponent. Winning these matches gives Kiryu big rewards and Fame boosts.
Castle Rank Upgrade Requirements
Reaching new ranks in the castle requires you to have completed all the fights in the rank below it as well as reaching a specific level of the Akame Network. By completing the story, you’ll automatically advance to Silver Rank in the Castle, however, you’ll also be able to reach Gold and Platinum.
To reach Gold, you’ll need to have completed all of the silver-ranked fights in the Coliseum and have achieved level 10 on the Akame Network.
As for Platinum, you’ll need to complete all of the gold-ranked fights in the Coliseum and have achieved level 20 on the Akame Network.
