What is Marilyn Mansons religion? Singer slammed for attending Kanye West's church

Publish date: 2024-06-20

Kanye West brought Marilyn Manson and Justin Bieber to his Sunday Service prayer on Halloween and it soon broke the Internet as the rap icon faced backlash for again bringing the sexual abuse-accused Manson to his event. This comes after Kanye had invited the singer to his ‘Donda’ event along with homophobia-accused rapper DaBaby back in August.

Manson, who was in the news after getting accused of sexual assault allegations by multiple women in the last few months, was one of the top trends on Twitter after he was reportedly converted to Christianity as Justin Bieber recited a prayer. Kanye West, Bieber and Manson were spotted wearing all-white attire at the religious gathering. Big Sean and Roddy Rich too marked their attendance at the event. This is the first time Kanye held a Sunday Service prayer after the release of his 10th studio album ‘Donda’. The event was live-streamed on Triller and Fite TV.

What is Marilyn Manson's religion?

Marilyn Manson, who has been largely identified as a satanic musician, over the years, was seen wearing a hoodie and a mask with his all-white attire. Though he refrained from saying anything at the event, he was spotted nodding as Bieber recited a prayer. Social media users slammed the 52-year-old musician for being a born-again Christian. Speaking of his religion, Manson in an interview with Larry King in 2019 said that “I'm not a misanthrope. I'm not a nihilist. I'm not an atheist. I believe in spirituality, but it really has to come from somewhere else.”

He added, “I learned a long time ago, you can't try to change the world, you can just try to make something in it. I think that's my spirituality, it's putting something into the world. If you take all the basic principles of any religion, it's usually about creation. There's also destruction, but creation essentially.” Manson then revealed, “I was raised Christian. I went to a Christian school, because my parents wanted me to get a better education. But when I got kicked out I was sent to public school, and got beat up more by the public school kids. But then I'd go to my friend's Passover and have fun."  In 2001, he explained to Belief Net that he was brought up by a Catholic and an Episcopal. "My first memories of religion were being taken to an Episcopal church. My father was Catholic, but my mother, I believe, was Episcopal. So I sort of veered off into the watered-down version of Catholicism.”

‘It’s all a grift and it’s gross’

Social media users brutally dragged Marilyn Manson after his recent spotting at Kanye’s prayer event. “I hate marilyn manson as a person with a burning passion, but him potentially becoming a born again christian is literally so f**king funny, said one user as another shared, “Don’t sweat it, Marilyn Manson went to Christian church yesterday, so clearly it was a “socks-on-your-hands” kind of day, cosmically.”

Meanwhile, one user posted, “Now that Marilyn Manson has become a born again Christian, I don’t think anything on this earth can shock me anymore. I’ve seen enough.” The next one added, “No. Marilyn Manson not going Christian, Kanye’s Sunday Service is merely a mockery of Christianity and there is no soul or substance there, Manson is no more or less a “Saint” than any of the frauds who attend the “service”. It’s all a grift and it’s gross.” One user sarcastically tweeted, “Watch Christian parents who hated Marilyn Manson in the 90s praise him because he has "converted". He is now saved and will be allowed into paradise.” And, one individual concluded, “Marilyn Manson is a Christian" is the most 2021 thing someone can ever say to me. Lol.”
