Chabelo was well-known for his ability as a comic.

Xavier was born on February 17, 1935, in the central Mexican city of Leon, and served on a military station in California. He then studied medicine in Mexico and worked as a doctor in a private facility while also working as a part-time aide at the Mexican network Televisa’s offices. He quickly started filling in for performers who were unable to attend performances and once told a jest on the radio about a kid called Chabelo. This resulted in the creation of a new figure, who also served as the face of Pepsi in the 1950s. Xavier has appeared in a number of advertisements over the years.
